QA Automation Engineer – Playwright

Remote | Contractor | 12-Month Contract | English Required

We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join a collaborative Agile engineering team and help strengthen end-to-end test coverage for a high-transaction online auction marketplace platform.

In this role, you will focus on expanding and maintaining a Playwright-based E2E automation suite, building reliable UI and API tests, improving test stability and maintainability, and integrating automated testing into CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Expand and maintain automated end-to-end testing using Playwright across critical platform flows.
• Develop reliable UI and REST API automated tests to identify regressions early.
• Improve test stability, readability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design to translate requirements into effective automated test coverage.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.
• Diagnose test failures and help identify root causes.
• Contribute to testing best practices, automation strategy, and coverage prioritization.
• Document testing processes and share knowledge with the broader engineering team.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in QA Automation, Software Testing, or a related role.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or comparable E2E frameworks such as Cypress or Selenium.
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
• Experience with REST API testing.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to design clear, reliable, and maintainable automated test cases.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies and testing tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
• Professional English communication skills required.
• Customer-focused mindset with a strong commitment to software quality and reliable user experiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience using Playwright in an e-commerce or marketplace environment.
• Experience testing React and TypeScript applications.
• Familiarity with Python, MySQL, or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with AWS and containerized environments such as Kubernetes.
• Experience improving automation frameworks using Page Object Model or similar design patterns.
• Experience with test reporting tools and automation framework improvements.
• Previous experience working with distributed, hybrid, or remote engineering teams.
