AI Software Engineer — Remote | Contractor | Full-Time
We’re hiring an AI Software Engineer to design, build, and own production AI systems — and the platform and infrastructure behind them. You’ll ship real LLM-powered products (agents, RAG pipelines, orchestration layers), own the full cloud stack, and occasionally work directly with clients to turn their goals into working solutions. This is a hands-on engineering role: you use AI tools to move faster, but you read, debug, and defend every line you ship.
Modality: Remote
Contract type: Contractor
Schedule: Full-time
Language: English required
Location: Open to candidates based in México, Colombia, Argentina, Perú, República Dominicana, Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Bolivia, Paraguay, or Ecuador, or Panamá
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain production services, APIs, and AI-powered workflows and agents
- Integrate LLMs into business systems with guardrails, evaluation loops, and defenses against prompt injection and related risks
- Own the full infrastructure stack: cloud, networking, containers and orchestration, CI/CD, IaC, observability, and security
- Build reusable, multi-tenant platform components that other engineers and client projects build on — not one-off solutions
- Keep reliability, latency, and model/token costs visible and under control
- Work with clients to scope their goals and translate them into technical delivery plans with measurable outcomes
- Keep stakeholders informed on progress, risks, and tradeoffs
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering, writing, reviewing, and maintaining production code
- Deep proficiency in at least one production language: Python, TypeScript, or Go
- Strong fundamentals in system design, APIs, databases, testing, debugging, and security
- Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar), with the judgment to review, correct, and own their output
- Proven experience building platforms that other developers or teams build on top of
- Hands-on experience across the infrastructure stack: a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Terraform or equivalent IaC, Kubernetes or containers, CI/CD, monitoring, and alerting
- Experience designing scalable, secure, multi-tenant systems
- Hands-on experience shipping LLM-based systems to production — agents, RAG, or orchestration — using OpenAI, Anthropic, or a similar provider
- English proficiency required (working language)
Nice to have:
- Experience working directly with clients or business stakeholders
- Ability to scope ambiguous problems and turn them into concrete delivery plans
- Business sense: connecting technical decisions to measurable business outcomes
