Senior Software Engineer — AI Frontier Engineering (Contract)

This is not a traditional software engineering role.We’re working on a project focused on training next-generation AI models to reason like real senior engineers working in production environments.Most developers are already using AI tools.This opportunity is about helping shape how those AI tools will think in the future.

Requirements:

• 5+ years professional SWE experience, with experience in major engineering companies  
• Has shipped production software in a professional setting. Not weekend coders. 
• Uses AI coding tools every day (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) 
• Strong judgment across the full software lifecycle:
  • Reading a PRD and breaking it into Jira tickets 
  • Estimating effort and scoping work 
  • Architecture and design choices 
  • Reviewing PRs 
  • Debugging and recovering when blocked

What you’ll work on

• Solve real engineering tasks inside real repositories
• Work daily with AI-native coding workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.)
• Detect reasoning failures in AI-generated solutions
• Evaluate architecture, debugging approaches, and code quality
• Document how a senior engineer would properly solve complex technical problems
• Help improve how frontier AI systems reason about software engineering

Ideal background

We’re especially interested in engineers who:

• Have strong real-world production experience
• Enjoy architecture and deep technical problem solving
• Have experience making technical decisions under ambiguity
• Are comfortable reviewing and critiquing code generated by AI tools
• Already use AI-assisted engineering workflows in daily work

Logistics

• Freelance turning into Contractor 
• Hourly compensation
• Preference for PST ±4 hours overlap
