SharePoint Migration Engineer
We are looking for a highly capable SharePoint Migration Engineer to lead the migration
of our on-premises SharePoint environment to SharePoint Online (Office 365). The ideal
candidate will have direct experience using Microsoft’s native migration tools as well as
third-party solutions to ensure a seamless, secure, and efficient migration process. This
role requires a strong understanding of SharePoint architecture, content management,
and modern cloud collaboration tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and document existing SharePoint environments (e.g., SharePoint 2013/2016/2019), including site structure, customizations, workflows, and permissions.
- Plan and execute migration strategies using Microsoft SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT), Microsoft Migration Manager, and PowerShell scripts for automation and control.
- Evaluate when to leverage Microsoft tools versus third-party solutions (e.g., ShareGate, Metalogix) based on use case complexity and business needs.
- Redesign and modernize legacy forms and workflows (InfoPath, SharePoint Designer) using Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Ensure compliance with Microsoft 365 governance policies, including site permissions, data retention, and DLP rules.
- Monitor and troubleshoot migration tasks, address errors, and provide mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with security, compliance, and infrastructure teams to ensure a secure and optimized cloud environment.
- Prepare detailed documentation, migration reports, and conduct knowledge transfer sessions with internal IT staff.
Required Qualifications:
- **5+ years of experience with Microsoft SharePoint, including on-premises (2013/2016/2019) and SharePoint Online.**
- **Hands-on experience using Microsoft Migration Manager and SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) for migrating content to Office 365.**
- **Strong understanding of SharePoint security models, site collections, content types, and metadata.**
- Proficient with PowerShell scripting for migration orchestration, reporting, and SharePoint administration.
- Experience with Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate) for modernizing forms and workflows.
- Understanding of Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including OneDrive, Teams, and Azure Active Directory integration.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with hybrid SharePoint environments or multi-tenant Office 365 deployments.
- Familiarity with third-party migration tools such as ShareGate, Metalogix, or AvePoint.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-600, MS-700, MS-900, or equivalent).
- Background in enterprise IT, consulting, or digital workplace transformation projects.
